I received a call this week from a man asking if I was aware that there were problems with my Internet. Thank goodness, I was immediately on my guard and queried the call saying that I would get my son to get back to him (I asked for his email address but he said he didn’t have one!?). I checked the phone number he gave on Google and apparently it WAS a scam, so beware!

Earlier this week, together with my daughter, we spent the morning at Selfridges with the lovely New York photographer Ari Seth Cohen where we visited his Exhibition of photos of “The wise and silver-haired set”. I’m proud to say that a photo of yours truly took pride of place in his Collection!
See the latest post in Ari’s “Advanced Style” Blog!
Now Ari is off to Paris and I wish him good luck with his exciting work!

You can read Fashionista’s article about Selfridges’ latest shop which will present those styles and products which have stood the test of time here. A great idea, and one I’m sure many fellow VOGs will applaud!
Of more personal interest, you will also read that the New York photographer Ari Seth Cohen is in London right now, commissioned by Selfridges, to photograph shoppers who have also passed the test of time – see his Advanced Style Blog. Having read so far, it will probably come as no surprise to you that Ari stopped yours truly while out shopping and has added her to his gallery – and he’s now also a friend on Facebook and Twitter!

You can also read more about Ari’s exploits in the “That’s not my age” Blog here and see other photos, including this elegant 96-year-old gentleman who dresses up every day to be out-and-about on the streets at Spitalfields Market.

Our very good friend Stella passed away on Friday 11th June, 2010. She will always be in our hearts and so very sadly missed – one of the “Golden Girls”.
Rita, Zena and families and all the many friends in whose hearts she remains.

I received an emergency call from one of my children the other night at midnight – she was in the loo and the lights suddenly went out! Dog barking in the garden, and husband away on business, she immediately thought there was an intruder in the house. Who does she phone at this late hour, but her mum!
Voice-a-trembling, she tells her tale of woe. As she was upstairs at the time and there was a light downstairs I realized it was a fuse. I told her that she would have to go down and check the fusebox under the stairs.
I told her to check if one switch was pointing differently from the others.
Presto! And all the lights came on, panic over, all was well.

I was just done hibernating for the winter when the Iceland Ash arrived! No great plans right now though I’m learning to keep up with my Facebook friends and also in real life with the Golden Girls – though none of them are really online yet!

About Windows Live Messenger’s popup:

“Never mind, I just keep telling it to go away all the time – but you’d have thought it would have taken the hint.”

NOT such a good idea was a visit I recently made with a friend to a well-known Knightsbridge Hotel.
After spending an hour or two at the Harrods’ Sale we decided that before we drove home we would stop for a cup of tea at this nearby hotel. After waiting a short while we were shown to a table in the lounge. When we requested a pot of tea for two we were informed that this would be £40, the minimum charge per person being £20!! Needless to say we left without the tea!!
Don’t miss VOG’s further adventures in this funny but exciting world we live in!

CAMBRIDGE – You can combine a visit to this famous University with afternoon tea in nearby Grantchester which is only a very short distance from the town centre
“The Orchard” is exactly what the name states. An afternoon tea (and Lunch too) is available to enjoy in this unique setting with indoor facilities should the weather not be favourable. A visit here leave you with happy memories – not forgetting the wonderful University town, which has so very many wonderful memories for this particular VOG!!

The magnificent soaring roof
Here are a few more VOG’s recommendations for a lovely day out. Firstly, in the heart of London St. Pancras Station. A visit to this recently redesigned and very famous Station is a must. This is where one can take the Euro Tunnel to Paris or a train to many other destinations.
The arcades of shops and an assortment of lovely restaurants is a delight, and, incidentally, all under cover.
